The city of Smiths Station is located in Lee County in southeast Alabama. Incorporated in 2001, it is Alabama’s second newest city and is home to about 5,000 residents. Its unique name originates from the train depot built in the area with the 1845 expansion of the Central of Georgia Railway. The depot was named after prominent settler Brodus Smith.
