town of Loachapoka

Welcome to the town of Loachapoka

The town of Loachapoka is located in Lee County in east-central Alabama, 5 miles west of Auburn University. Originally a Creek Indian village established in 1796, Loachapoka translates to "place where turtles live." Today the town is home to around 180 residents and the nation's first Rosenwald School, the Loachapoka School.
