About the Commission

The Atlas Alabama website was created alongside the Alabama Small Business Commission (ASBC) and the two share similar goals for small businesses in Alabama. The ASBC is an appointed group of state small/independent business owners responsible for advising government entities.

Commission Members

  • Consists of 30 appointed members that own business with 50 or fewer employees and serve two (2) year terms and can be re-appointed for a second term
  • Meets quarterly in order to formulate policies, encourage innovation, and discuss issues critical to the economic growth of small/independent businesses and their interests in the state of Alabama.

Advisory Committee

  • Established to provide technical assistance and serve as an information resource to the small business commission as they explore best practices and areas of reform including current rules, regulations and existing state statutes.
  • Attends all meetings of the Alabama Small Business Commission as a non-voting body.
