Lawrence County is located in northwest Alabama in between some of the south’s major cities, including Birmingham, Nashville and Atlanta. From the Bankhead National Forest to the Tennessee River, the county features several natural resources and recreational opportunities. As the birthplace of Olympian Jesse Owens, Lawrence County is home to the Jesse Owens Memorial Park and Museum. The county has over 33,000 residents and one of the strongest school systems in the state.
