Camden is the county seat of Wilcox County; it is located in southwest Alabama. Camden town center offers visitors a number of historic buildings, and the town takes part in the annual Wilcox County Tour of Homes. Gaines Ridge, constructed in the 1820s, is among several notable historic homes in the city. Roland Cooper State Park is located six miles northwest of Camden and offers camping, fishing, golfing, picnicking, and swimming along the banks of the 22,000-acre William Dannelly Reservoir.
