Elkmont is located in north-central Limestone County in the extreme north-central part of the state. Elkmont is within one mile of the nationally historic Sulphur Trestle Fort Site. The town offers its 460 residents an 8.8-mile Rails-to-Trails walking and riding path built on the old rail bed.
