town of Newbern

Welcome to the town of Newbern

The town of Newbern is located in southern Hale County in west-central Alabama and is part of the Tuscaloosa Metropolitan area. Originally a farming town, Newbern was known as Cane Brake for the abundance of cane in the area. Today the town encompasses 1.2 square miles and is home to around 180 residents and Auburn University’s Rural Studio.
