UA Safe State

UA SafeState Occupational Safety and Health consultation has been partnering with Alabama businesses since 1978. The SafeState program offers free, confidential onsite consultations for small high hazard businesses in Alabama. Consultation services  include OSHA program development, safety and health hazard surveys, industrial hygiene testing, safety management, and informal onsite training. To qualify for this free service, employers need to be willing to voluntarily correct any serious hazards found. SafeState will also help you find the most economical and effective means of correction. Annually, SafeState makes about 400 onsite visits per year, saving individual employers thousands of dollars in potential injury costs and fines. This special small business service is funded in part through the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration

With the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, Congress created the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to assure safe and healthful working conditions for working men and women by setting and enforcing standards and by providing training, outreach, education and assistance.
